Masashi Hamauzu

Masashi Hamauzu grew up in a musical environment and developed a passion for video game music through Koichi Sugiyama’s work on the Dragon Quest series. Early on in his career at SQUARE ENIX, he was a singer in the eight-person chorus recording for Nobuo Uematsu’s legendary “One-Winged Angel” in FINAL FANTASY VII. Hamauzu created new music for FINAL FANTASY X including “Besaid” and “Blitz Off.” He was the principal composer for FINAL FANTASY XIII, using an impressive variety of aesthetics, including the sweeping cinematics of “The Promise” and “Dust to Dust,” and a range of styles as in “The Yaschas Massif” and “The Archylte Steppe.” He also worked on FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII. Most recently, he was one of the primary composers on the universally acclaimed FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.
